Please ensure you provide your name and contact information when donating your device, so we can reach out if there is any security that needs to be unlocked before we can use it.
All Apple devices and modern Google devices are linked to your account and can't be used by others for anything but spare parts until they're unlocked. If you're comfortable, you can follow these instructions for Apple or these for Android. Alternatively, when you donate, ensure the device is fully charged and bring your Apple ID or Google account credentials, along with another device on your account if available, and we'll guide you through the process.
Some devices, especially newer laptops, may have extra security features such as firmware or BIOS passwords or encrypted drives that need to be addressed. If you're comfortable resetting these yourself, that's great; if not, we're happy to help you with the details.
Chargers are one of our biggest expenses, so if you have yours (or any extras), it would be greatly appreciated.
Please give your device a quick clean with a damp cloth. A microfiber cloth with a bit of water works best for cleaning screens and keyboards without damaging the device.
